Marketing Strategy for Formula 1

I was tasked with developing a comprehensive marketing strategy for a motorsports entity, focusing on key marketing principles specific to the industry. This included defining clear marketing objectives, creating a 4Ps marketing mix, and establishing key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure success.

For this project, I chose Formula 1, with a strategy aimed at increasing fan engagement, securing new sponsorships, and growing brand awareness in North America. The objectives included boosting social media engagement among U.S. women fans by 13% per race, securing three new sponsorships with Gen Z-focused brands, and increasing F1’s brand awareness in North America by 25% within a year.

Using the 4Ps framework, I analyzed F1’s product as a premier motorsport experience, considered pricing strategies for tickets, merchandise, and broadcasting rights, and identified place strategies, such as social media, traditional media, event activations, and brand partnerships to maximize audience reach. The promotion plan incorporated content marketing, influencer collaborations, public relations, and digital advertising to drive engagement and attract new audiences.

To measure success, I established KPIs directly tied to each objective, including social media engagement rates, sponsorship revenue growth, brand recognition surveys, search volume increases, and media exposure metrics. This strategy provides a targeted and effective approach for F1 to expand its audience, strengthen fan engagement, and grow its commercial partnerships.
